Green Sahara
Green Sahara Project
The damage caused by hurricanes, extreme temperatures, climate change is both human and material. Just in USA is $2.155 trillion approximate cost of damages from weather and climate disasters, from 1980 to 2021. https://www.weather.gov/jetstream/tcHurricanes are formed due to the warm air currents in the Sahara that cause sea levels to warm. A green Sahara would cause the temperature to warm up in the warm season. A global solution to carbon sequestration is greening the Sahara desert. The flooding of the Qattara Depression, which covers an area of 19605 square kilometers with water from the Nile River, would irrigate desert land for farms and for forests and permacultures. The land could be irrigated for an area of 100,000 square km. Evaporation of water from Lake Qattara would cause rains that could fill Lake Chad but also rains west of Lake Qattara. To flood Qattara Lake, it is necessary to build a canal between the Nile River and the Qattara Depression. Several canal variants need to be considered, including the creation of a dam between the Nile and the Mediterranean Sea, or the Naser Lake pipeline. I do not agree with the pipeline project in the Mediterranean because Lake Qattara would become a salt lake. The economic benefits of Lake Qattara would be immense because it would economically increase the area of Africa and bring prosperity to the world. A higher flow of water on the Blue Nile River is needed to increase the volume of water in the Nile River. More rainfall is needed for more rainfall in an arid area of Ethiopia and Eritrea. These rains can occur if the Danakil Depression is flooded with an area of 10,000 square kilometers of water in the Red Sea. The canal between the Red Sea and the Danakil Depression could be between 5 km and 30 km long, there are two routes and geologists can decide which route is more advantageous. On the 5 km route there are heights of 30 meters and on the 30 km route there are heights of 10-20 meters. Due to the increase in the volume of rainwater, it will be necessary to terrace the lands, create rainwater accumulation channels, plant trees with terraced hills. The first canal to be built is the canal between Lake Goubet and Lake Assal, it is a canal 1000 meters long but there are heights and 150 meters in the volcanic rock. By creating this canal, Lake Assal can be introduced into the tourist circuit, lowering the salinity level. Salt mining is needed in Lake Assal and the future Lake Danakil. The economic benefits of investing will be over 1000 times greater. It will be the most profitable investment in human history after the Panama Canal and the Suez Canal.
